Creating a Space
Data extraction, modification, and modeling occur in a Space.
As such, this is the first object that must be created in a modeling project.
Below are some general instructions on how to create an active Space with assigned users.
To create a Space, your user must have a role with Space and Space Files permissions. The default roles with this are Integrator and Space Administration.
1
Select Space Management in the Navigation Bar.
2
Click Create.
3
Give your space a business name.
A technical ID will be generated from your business name.
Note
Your technical ID must be unique.
4
Click Create.
General Settings
In the General Settings tab, you can view and modify your Space properties, including your Space’s name and storage allocations.
- Your Disk space is the usable storage space for data held in Datasphere.
- Your Memory is the maximum amount of available memory that can be used in any data handling.
- As the results of data handling need to be stored, the disk space will need to be at least as large as the memory. The default is that memory is 50% of Disk storage.
Note
You can modify your space quota after the space has been deployed.
5
Save the Space to update the initial changes.
6
Then, select Deploy to activate the Space on the database.
The space is now active but cannot yet be used in the project because no users are assigned to it.
Users
The Users tab allows users with scoped roles to be assigned to the Space.
These users are the only ones that can build applications and processes within the Space.
7
Select Security in the Navigation Bar.
8
Select Roles.
The Scoped Roles section has roles that assign privileges to Spaces – letting assigned users make changes to connections, processes, and objects within those Spaces.
Your new Space must be assigned to scoped roles.
9
Select a Scoped Role.
The Task tab for the role will open.
Here, you can see the permissions allowed for the role.
10
Select the Scopes button.
11
Search for your Space by name in the available Scopes search bar.
12
Select your Space.
13
Click Save.
Note
By default, all the users will be assigned to the Space for this scoped role.
14
Go back to Roles by selecting it in the breadcrumb trail.
15
Repeat this for every role you wish users to have in this space.
Adding & Removing Users
1
Click on Spaces in the Navigation Bar.

Select your Space and click Edit.

6

8
