Feature Overview

Bulk Migration enables users to convert all of the classic stories within a folder to Optimized in bulk, rather than doing so individually. The stories are selected and scanned for feature limitations and blocks. Individual stories can be opened from this menu to address issues and save, before converting in bulk.

Story Conversion is accessed from the Stories app in the navigation menu. Once in the Stories app, click the tab on the far right, Story Conversion. Now, navigate to your chosen folder and select all stories that will be converted.

After selecting your stories, click the Convert to Optimized Story button on the upper right to perform the conversion check.

The conversion check produces three results for the stories: Ready to Convert, Feature Limitation, or Blocked. Ready to Convert signifies that there are no issues and the story is ready for conversion. Feature limitation signifies that the story has features that are not yet ready for conversion. Blocked signifies that the story has issues to address before the story can be converted.

Stories labeled with Feature Limitation or Blocked statuses can be opened from here in a new tab. In this blog, we’ll address the issue of checking the Optimized Presentation box for tables within a story. For help with a comprehensive guide to potential issues, refer to the SAP Help guide below.

About Optimized Story Experience Restrictions

After opening the story in Edit mode, navigate to the Save dropdown menu and select Convert to Optimized Design Experience. You will be unable to convert a story that has issues to address. In this case, the Show more link will be present and will provide a useful list of all issues to address, including all Tabs/Tables that need to be checked for Optimized Presentation.

In our example, select one of the tables listed and open the builder panel. Click the check box for Optimized Presentation. Repeat this for the remainder of the listed tables, then save the story and return to Story Conversions.

Returning to the SAC Story Conversion window, click Next. We’re now on step 2 of the conversion, with options for saving. The optimized story can be saved as a copy or overwrite of the original, classic version of the story. We can also choose whether to save it in the original folder or a new folder. Click Next.

The Conversion Summary shows the status of all converted stories, whether Successful or Failed. Any stories that failed conversion can be opened again from this window.
