Spaces require storage to hold data and processing power to transform data and run processes.
An instance of Datasphere will have a set disk space for storage and set memory for data transactions.
If you select Spaces in the Navigation Bar, you are shown your instance’s allocation for all your Spaces.
Disk Used for Storage shows the amount of stored data compared to the total set data in your instance of Datasphere.
Disk Assigned for Storage shows the total storage already assigned to existing Spaces. The white area shows the remaining storage that can be allocated to Spaces.
As shown in the image above, this instance is not currently using very much of its assigned space. The same can be seen when looking at the Memory Used for Storage and the Memory Assigned for Storage.
We could significantly reduce the assigned storage and still have enough for all the activities in this instance.
If most of your Spaces are in the blue (Cold), then you may have allocated too much to these Spaces.
If there are Spaces in the orange state (Critical), then more storage should be assigned to them.
To change the storage amount in a space:
1
Select a Space that is either cold or critical.
2
Click Edit.
3
Make certain Enable Space Quota is ticked.
4
Increase or decrease the storage.
5
As the results of data handling need to be stored, the disk space will need to be at least as large as the memory.
6
Save your changes.
7
Deploy your new configuration.
8
Check that your storage is in a Healthy state.
