SAC Developer 100 Group ILT Path

SAC Developer 100 Group ILT Path

The SAC Developer 100 Group ILT Path is intended to build on the core SAP Analytics Cloud workflow and functionality that students learn on the job or in our SAC for End Users learning path. It is designed to take existing SAC skills and hone them into a sharp skillset and enhanced toolkit for users to deploy in SAC after class.

Students will start by learning how to create different types of models to organize and define relationships within your business data. Students will learn how to create stories and dashboards from the ground up, implement user-friendly features, and learn about best practice design techniques for optimal user experience and performance. Finally, students will learn the importance of maintaining data integrity and how to implement various planning tools and capabilities within SAC.

SAC Overview and Navigation

Within this module, you will be introduced to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for the first time. You will learn what SAC is capable of, and you will be introduced to some key terms to ensure your organization is speaking the same language when it comes to SAC.

You will also learn about computer setup and browser best practices when working with SAC, as well as how to log in for the first time. Additionally, you'll learn how to navigate and customize the SAC Homepage, and you will understand how to access files and stories to truly begin your journey with SAP Analytics Cloud.

Introduction to Data Modeling

This module introduces the fundamentals of data modeling in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). This module will teach you how to use models to organize and define relationships in your business data. You will learn about the various model types, when to use them, and how to create them.

When developing a new model, you must understand how dimensions, measures, hierarchies, and attributes interact to organize and structure business data within a model. You will also be able to learn how to import data into a model, handle basic errors, and perform data transformations in this module. Finally, you will learn how to create model calculations in order to derive different values on your dimension and measure values.

Creating BI Visualizations

This module will first introduce you to four different types of BI visualizations that you can create within a story. Classifying each chart type will assist you in quickly determining which BI visualization will have the greatest impact on your data inside SAP Analytics Cloud.

You will then learn how to use filters to connect your stories, pages, and individual visualizations before creating your own to help you slice and dice your data. You will use the Styling panel to make formatting changes in order to bring your stories and visualizations to life. Finally, you will convert an existing story into a template that your end users can use for guided ad-hoc BI visualization design.

Table Creation and BI Time Handling

You will have the opportunity to learn the importance of using tables within SAC. This module will teach you how to create a table within a story, and then add styling it to make it come to life. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to apply conditional formatting to your table in order to make dynamic formatting changes much easier. You can apply conditional formatting to your table in just a few clicks after learning how to create a threshold in this module.

Following that, you'll learn how to use dynamic time filtering to add more flexibility to your stories, particularly around dates. Then, to add a specific variance to your chart, you will add a time-based variance. Finally, you'll use the automatic forecasting power to add predictive insights to your time series chart.

Designing for End Users

This module will give you additional tools to maximize data analysis within a dashboard or story for your end users. When analyzing data, it's critical to be able to adjust your visualizations on the fly. You will learn how to use the data explorer to fine-tune an existing visualization, and save your changes as a new view, to which you can always refer.

You'll also learn how to enable or disable hierarchy drilling within your story based on the level of control your end-users require. Within your story, you will create your own ad hoc variance calculation to provide more insight into the changes of your data. Then you'll learn how linking a second model to your story has benefits and performance impacts that come with it. You will also have a solid understanding of the best practices for performance optimization that you can employ to ensure the smoothest overall user experience. You will also discuss about the most important aspects of performance and how to speed up your story. Finally, you will employ use text to provide your end-users with a additional insight into their own selections.

Planning Management

This module will teach you the importance of maintaining data integrity when creating and using an input table. Then you'll learn how to create filters to ensure the integrity of your input table. As you manually enter data into the table, you will also investigate how data can be disaggregated through the hierarchy.

Disaggregation can also be accomplished by utilizing the Planning panel, which you will learn about. This module will also teach you about Value Driver Trees and the role they play in strategic planning. Finally, you'll create your own allocation process to run on your planning table.
